Top 5 Stress-Free Exercises

“Endorphins. The happy fitness drug you can never have too much of.”

-Anonymous

Looking to get some endorphins, but don’t really want to put in all that effort? Then, you’ve come to the right place. Exercise is new to me and it’s something I’m learning to love. And by learning, I mean I’m really tolerating it. But, hey, the things you do for happiness!

Here’s the thing…I’m not a big fan of strenuous, make-me-want-to-pass-out exercise. If anything, I get all freaked out that I’m having a heart attack and stop the exercise all together. I know, I know… I’m working on this whole anxiety thing.

Anyway, I have compiled a list of my favorite stress-free workouts. Without further ado…

  1. Swimming.
This is so relaxing. You’ll get to be totally in tune with your body and thoughts. Not to mention, it makes you feel like Ariel or Flounder (for you guys)!
  2. Yoga.
Breath in…breathe out… Listen to the calming voice of your instructor. It really can’t get any more relaxing than this. You may wonder how this is even exercise. Trust me, you’ll see. Some of those poses will make your muscles quiver.
  3. Walking.
You can walk outside on a beautiful sunny afternoon, take a stroll at night underneath the stars or even hit the treadmill while listening to your favorite songs. You’ll still burn some calories while clearing your head.
  4. Cleaning your house.
Sounds kind of hokey, right? But, it’s so true. You can burn so many calories just by doing household chores like vacuuming and scrubbing bathtubs. You’ll be able to de-clutter while you de-stress.
  5. Taking care of the yard.
This is similar to house cleaning in that you’re actually doing something productive. When you finish, you’ll be glad you mowed the lawn or tended that garden. Not to mention the calories you’ll burn…

Now, if you have a medical condition, you will definitely want to talk to your doctor before doing any of the exercises listed above!
